"IN THE MIND'S EYE - TAKING A LEAP INTO CREATING THIS SOLO EXHIBITION FOR SOL GALLERY"
by erin reinboth on Dec 08, 2024
Let me tell you, stepping into this solo exhibition felt like jumping off a high dive—except instead of water, it was a pool of paint, half-formed ideas, and nervous energy.
For the longest time, I had this itch to create something truly my own—a whole body of work that felt uniquely me. But every time I started to go in this direction, my nerves would kick in. Nervous about sharing it. Nervous about putting this play on landscapes and colorscapes out into the world.
But one day, something clicked. That whisper in the back of my mind—the one that felt like intuition wrapped in a paintbrush—got louder and louder. And, finally, I listened. I picked up my courage (and my brushes) and made the decision to actually go for it.
And here we are: creating my next solo exhibition for Sol Gallery. It feels very full circle to be exhibiting in such a prolific Melbourne gallery space. I used to explore this suburb with my uni friends, inspired by its vibrant art and culture while dreaming of what could be.
I’m fascinated by the way we all uniquely see the world, interpret color, and connect with moments, memories, and emotion. My work has always explored these perspectives, inviting people into abstract landscapes of mood and memory. In this exhibition, I painted in pairs to give viewers a journey—traveling between conscious and subconscious feelings, intention and intuition, perspective and memory.
But intuition is a funny thing, isn’t it? You listen to it, and it nudges you into paths that feel right. For me, it looks like mixing colors that feel alive or splattering paint on a canvas and trusting it has something to say.
This solo exhibition has been both terrifying and exhilarating. Sometimes you just have to trust yourself, listen to that inner voice, and leap.
I can’t wait to share this collection with you at Sol Gallery. Until then, I’ll keep painting, dancing, and listening to the journey that brought me here.
Here’s to leaps of faith, messy paintbrushes, and trusting your gut—every single time. 🎨✨
